Three Safety Reasons to Have Half Circle Hearth Rugs

It is late summer or early fall and most of us are not even thinking about our winter needs yet, but this is a great time to start the process of getting ready.  Get the flue cleaned and checked by a professional.  Have a couple cords of hard wood delivered and stacked in the back yard.  But wait there is more to do.   

Half Circle Hearth Rugs:  Half circle hearth rugs are a step in the right direction.  The simplest and easiest fire safety precaution when included with a fireplace screen.  This is a tremendous coupling of fire preventers.  But, hey, a fire resistant hearth rug can look good too.  These are not plain Jane anymore.   Beautiful colors to match any room and decor designs that are pleasing to the eye.  Oriental patterns are available also. Get two or three different ones and interchange them during the wood burning season.

Fireplace Screen Accessories:  As stated earlier the dynamic duo of hearth rug and fireplace screen is a one two punch for safety.  While a screen will stop the majority of flying embers, the rug is the backup position.  Screens need not be mundane, there are a variety of single fireplace screens , three fold screens and even glass screens.  These can add an elegant touch to any room. 

Wood Burning Fireplace Accessories:  Other safety musts are a pair of heavy leather fireplace gloves.  Many are available and come in a double thickness for protection.  Also, in a worst case scenario, have a fire suppressant in case of a flue fire. 

The best things to do are get the flue cleaned and burn good hard wood.  May you have a happy and warm home this winter.
